The Friends of Hebron Burialground AGM takes place at the Ebenezer Parish Room, British Road, Bedminster on Saturday 3rd March 2012 at 5.30. You are invited to attend.

Work should finally start at the end of November 2011 to reconstruct and repair the walls surrounding the burial ground on Hebron Road and Melville Terrace. The work should be completed by March 2012.

Patchwork community gardening
The next gardening session will be on Thursday 28th April. Meet at the South Street patch (on the corners of North and South Streets) at 6.30pm.

GBCP Annual Meeting
This will be on June 27. There are four elements to the Board:
1. 4 councillors. Membership will be determined on 5 May.
2. 10 representatives of community, voluntary and faith organisations that are registered. The list of registered groups is on our website www.greaterbedminster.org.uk
3. 4 representatives of private businesses that are registered.
4. 2 local people nominated by the Equalities Forum.

Could you volunteer?
Do you have an hour or so a week you could spare? Are you happy to listen to someone and chat about a whole variety of things? Do you appreciate a nice cup of tea? LinkAge are looking for volunteers just like you to visit lonely and isolated people at home in Southville, Bedminster and Ashton. No experience is required as training and support is given. Travel expenses will also be paid. Times are flexible and anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to apply. If you are interested in finding out more, we would love to hear from you. In need of some company?
Do you know someone over 50 who is lonely or isolated? Perhaps a relative or neighbour who would appreciate a visit for an hour or so each week Are you yourself stuck at home and perhaps a bit frustrated by the limitations that can come with getting older? For those living in Southville, Bedminster and Ashton, LinkAge can help. We have a growing group of volunteers who would like to visit an older person. You will need to fill in a form, but we can help with that. Once a person is on our list we will work hard to match them with a suitable volunteer. LinkAge walking group
The group meets every Thursday at various locations in the area to go on 2-3 mile walks. The group is very friendly and is for people over 50 in the Bedminster, Southville and surrounding areas. The walks are suitable for anyone who can walk for an hour without stopping. We usually finish at a cafe for a cup of tea. acta's youth theatre for 9-11 years olds in South Bristol is looking for new members.

South Bristol residents create storybook for children
acta's arts group for over 55s have published their first storybook for children.
The book, entitled 'On Our Street', is based on the puppet show of the same name created and devised by the OPA members and has been distributed around Primary Schools in South Bristol. There are a few copies left, if anyone would like one for their school or community group, please get in touch!
